Leonie Poppie de Ridder

March 16, 1929 - January 15, 2022

Leonie Poppie (Iseli) de Ridder, age 92, originally from Tipp City, Ohio and currently, Tucson, AZ, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at home.  She was born March 16, 1929 in Sawah Lunto, Sumatra, Indonesia to Bernard and Asmah Iseli.  Poppie was a devoted wife, proud mother, Tante Pop, Oma and Oma Poppie to her great-grandchildren, Haley and Hendrik.  Poppie started her life’s journey in Indonesia which led to the Netherlands after marrying the love of her life and best friend of 58 years, Hendrik, on September 7, 1949.  Eventually the family of four moved to the United States in 1956. Poppie retired from Rike’s in downtown Dayton, OH after 20+ years of dedicated employment.  

Family was always Poppie’s first priority as well as traveling the world, loving living in her same home for 64 years, cooking nasi goreng and Indonesian rijsttafel, “Price is Right”, “Wheel of Fortune”, watching any kind of soccer or nature documentary and don’t forget, spoiling her 4-legged companion, Henri.  

Poppie was preceded in death by her loving husband , Hendrik de Ridder; sister, Stien Nurdin, and brothers, Sjair and Karel, of Indonesia; brothers, Dolf, Frits, Jan, Henri, Gerard and Theo, all of the Netherlands and Victor of Dayton, OH.  

She will be missed and remembered by her children, Liesje and John Mokri of Melbourne, FL, devoted Eveline and Floyd Purvis of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Craig Dykstra of Tavares, FL, Rahima Dykstra of Clermont, FL, Zoe and Cory Newland of Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren, Haley of the Netherlands and Hendrik of Tucson, AZ; sister, Nellie Bosma of Dayton, OH; brother, Martin of the Netherlands; sisters-in-law, Loes Iseli of Dayton, OH; Berty Iseli, Lies Drienhuizen, Lini de Ridder and cousin, Asjah van der Linden, all of the Netherlands plus numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in the US, Indonesia and the Netherlands.  

Poppie will be missed by all who knew her.
