Louis Armand Houplin

November 05, 1932 - February 05, 2022

Louis Armand Houplin   (November 5, 1932 – February 5, 2022)

Louis Armand Houplin, 89, died of complications from Dementia on Feb. 5, 2022, in his San Bernardino home with his wife, Harriet Houplin, of 26 years by his side.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1932, the son of Maud & Ernest Houplin in Colton, CA.  Proud of his French heritage, he was the last Houplin in the United States.

Louie will always be remembered for his wit, kindness, strong devotion to family and his signature handlebar mustache.  Founder of Houplin Equipment Rental, he was a highly skilled heavy equipment operator, especially in demand for challenging or catastrophic conditions.  Watching him traverse a mountain side was like experiencing a choreographed performance.

Preceded in death by his son, John and his first wife, Paula, he is survived by his daughters Carolyn (Dave Branson) and Michele (Neil Spain), 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: as well as multiple stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, served during the Korean War.

Memorial services will be held on a later date.
