Gwendolyn Ann Martin

October 04, 1949 - December 26, 2022

Gwendolyn Ann Fletcher Martin was born on October 4, 1949 to Billy Joe and Mildred Fletcher in Oklahoma City, OK.  A true preachers kid, she spent her youth rebelling but she did graduate from David W Carter High School in Dallas in 1968. Two weeks later, on June 22, she married Larry Paul Womack.  In April of 1970, their only child, Angela was born.  Eventually, the family landed in Mesquite, TX where Gwen would spend the majority of her adult life. Gwen was a very hard worker and she spent most of her professional life at only 2 companies, Southland Corporation and Tetra-Tech. She retired in 1995 due to health issues.  In 1996, she welcomed her twin granddaughters, Haven and Hanna Guyer. In 2009, after separating from her then husband Vaughn, she moved between Nevada, TX with Ang and the girls and Mesquite where she lived with her best friend, Shirley Bartek. Gwen and Shirley aka Thelma and Louise, lived together until November of 2020 when she moved to Seattle, WA with Angela who had relocated with her job. They relocated a few months later to McMinnville, OR as Gwen’s health was declining and Angela  and her partner, Sue bought a house and Angela took a new job at home to stay with her Mom.  Gwen passed at home on December 26th at 10:35PM PST.  She had been on hospice for a few weeks after complications arose from a hip fracture she suffered in September. She was surrounded by “all her girls” . In addition to her daughter, Angela and Angela’s partner, Suzanne Bonds and her granddaughters, Haven and Hanna, she leaves behind her sister, Tami Finkenbiner (David) and her “baby brother”, Britt Fletcher and his wife Pam. In Oregon, she also had 2 grandsons, Paul and Andrew and their partners, Morgan and Kayleigh as well as 6 great grandchildren.  She also leaves 4 nieces and nephews, Jonathan and Jordan Finkenbiner and Stacy and Jenny Fletcher.  Per her request, Gwen was cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Gwen’s memory.
