Barbara Joan del Rosario

December 30, 1939 - April 19, 2024

Barbara del Rosario (Bobbi), a remarkable woman of strength, passion, and compassion, peacefully departed this life on April  19, 2024.

As the co-owner of Elmsford Raceway, with her husband Lou, the pair left an indelible mark on the model car racing community in Westchester County, NY. Her marketing skills and dedication to the sport made Elmsford Raceway a beloved institution cherished by enthusiasts far and wide. Beyond the Raceway, Barbara fearlessly pursued her passion for speed as an Amateur Formula Vee race car driver, breaking barriers as one of the pioneering female drivers in the sport. Her talent shone brightly, evidenced by her remarkable second-place finish at Watkins Glen.

Barbara's love for animals was boundless, as she embraced a vegan lifestyle and opened her home to countless strays in need. Her compassion touched the lives of both humans and animals alike. Additionally, Barbara's creative spirit found expression in her love for writing children's fiction, bringing joy and imagination to the hearts of many.

Barbara had a love and talent for music and arts. Some of her favorite times were spent singing with her church choir, and her love of singalongs with her children will live on for generations to come. She was incredibly creative with everything she touched.

Though her journey was marked by challenges, Barbara faced them with grace and resilience. Diagnosed with dementia at the young age of 65, she courageously navigated life with the disease for two decades, demonstrating incredible strength and fortitude until the very end.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Luis F. del Rosario Jr. and her one sister Carol Kinsley. She is survived by her seven devoted children: Michael del Rosario, Louie del Rosario, Ricky del Rosario, Monique Rose, Bobbi Nadasi, Eva Nicolazzi, and Alicia Mastropietro. Barbara's legacy extends through her 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

There will be a private service for immediate family. As of yet,  no plans have been put into place for a memorial service.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of her favorite causes - Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org) or PETA (https://www.peta.org)

Hans del Rosario To the del Rosario Family, We’re so sorry to hear about Auntie Barbara’s passing. Our sympathies to Michael, Louie, Ricky, Monique, Bobbi Jo, Eva and Alicia . I (Hans) still remember her driving me, Inge and Alicia to spend a weekend at Eva’s school in Bridgeport and watching home movies of her from her racing days - and of course her first trip to Manila in 1975 when I first met her. We’re glad she was able to make it home to be with family. Rest in Peace Auntie Barbara. Love and prayers to the rest of the family. Hans, Nok and Kitty
