Joan Norton

January 11, 1943 – October 18, 2025

Joan Norton of Everett, Washington, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, to Ray and Margaret Grilley on January 11, 1943, Joan was a woman of great strength, compassion, and faith. She attended Lincoln High School and later pursued studies at Seattle University, where she earned her Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Studies in 1985. Joan received her Washington state Chemical Dependency Professional license on June 29th, 2000. Joan dedicated over 40 years of her life to helping others as a Chemical Dependency Professional where her kindness, empathy, and deep understanding of recovery touched countless lives.

After the passing of her husband, Dean Norton in 1972, Joan courageously raised her three sons on her own. Her love, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to her family were the foundation upon which her sons built their lives.

A proud and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Joan celebrated 46 years of sobriety at her final meeting. Her Wednesday morning women’s group held a special place in her heart, offering her not only fellowship but also an opportunity to inspire others on their path to healing.

Joan cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be remembered for her warm spirit, her laughter, and her ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth, Robert and daughter in law Teresa, and David and daughter in law Gemma. Her sister Carolyn, and best friend Wendy. Her Grandchildren are Katrina, Natasha, Shelby, Taylor, Robert, Samantha, Michelle, Akiesha, and Kristine. She also has eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Norton.

Her legacy of compassion, strength, and service will continue to live on through all the lives she touched.
