Phyllis Tyvela
Charles Kirk Smith (Chuck) of Prairie Grove, Arkansas died December 16, 2025 in Fremont, California. He was born in Reed City, Michigan to Daniel Claude and Anna Belle (McConnell) Smith on December 12, 1955. Both parent preceded him in death.
Chuck was a raconteur in every sense of the word. He never ran out of stories to tell of his life growing up in Pinconning, Michigan and Luther, Michigan. If you've ever seen the movie, "Big Fish", you would recognize Chuck as the teller of stories, all of which were true. At 19 he joined the Marines and was honorably discharged. Chuck always had a story to tell, even if you didn't believe him.
Chuck is survived by his wife and partner, Phyllis Tyvela; his children and grandchildren: Nathan Smith and son, Nathanial; Sara (Chris) Stafford and daughters Kaija and Charlotte; Emily (Christopher) Puckett and daughter Mattie and son Logan; and Victor (Natalia) Smith and daughter Avalynn. He is also survived by his sister Celia Young-Wenkel; and brothers Kevin (Carol) Smith; and Chad (Mandy) Smith. There are also nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, too numerous to list but all of them family.
A celebration of Chuck's life will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 2pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2925 N. Old Missouri Rd. in Fayetteville, AR. All friends and families who can attend are welcome. We will have a short memorial service and will be visiting with all of you after the service. Please come as you are, the brighter, the better. Chuck was always ready to believe the best in everyone he met and would rather have a semblance of an Irish wake. Laughter and tears will both be in abundance.
