Darren Gravat
Eric John Gravat passed away peacefully at his home in San Francisco on December 23rd, 2025. He is survived in death by his four brothers Jim Gravat, John Gravat, Jeff Gravat all of Tampa Florida and Darren Gravat of Summerville, South Carolina.
In his more than 30 years in San Francisco Eric cultivated a group of friends or informal family, a dynamic that feels very traditional to people who transplant to SF from other locations. He is survived in death by Tish Imbert of Portland, Oregon, Michael Belcher of Amsterdam, and Donald Baird of San Francisco.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother Lois Gravat, father John Gravat, both of Brandon Florida, and brother Kevin Gravat of St. Louis. In San Francisco he was preceded in death by George Crawford and a few other close friends.
In his early life Eric served in the US Navy and held a strong interest in all things naval. He was also identified as a person from the South, instilled with certain traditions and values he consistently held. Eric was a very kind and giving person, a loving son, brother, and friend to many. He also had many hobbies including jigsaw puzzles, a multitude of crafts, and most recently Legos. He was a fan of Musical Theater, Opera, and the San Francisco Ballet.
He will be missed by us all yet kept alive in our memories.
