Andrew "DJ Baretta" Barreras

January 21, 1953 - November 11, 2021

Andrew “DJ Baretta” Barreras of Tucson, Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2021 at the age of 68.

Andy joins his beloved parents, Filiberto Vidal and Mary Louise (Ormsby) Barreras, in Heaven.

A hard working and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Barreras, grandson, JJ Soto, and his siblings, Dennis (Mary) Barreras and Liza (Ray) Campbell. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Andy was born on January 21, 1953, in Tucson, AZ, and was a 1971 Pueblo High School graduate. Andy worked drywall construction for his father’s company, Phil Barreras Drywall, but Andy’s love and passion for music was the driving force into sharing his love for music for the next 40+ years. He was an event DJ for his companies, Coconut Production, OG Entertainment, and Classic Entertainment; radio DJ for Hot 98 “La Caliente De Tucson”, KXEW Tejano 1600, KYPT Yoeme Radio; and night club manager for Bugsy’s Night Club. He was a part of Tucson’s all-star DJ congregation of extraordinary artists who are all part showman, part tech-wizards, part song historians, and part crowd psychologists. His free time was spent at the next concert or festival to listen and enjoy the live music no matter the genre.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 10:00am at Harvest Center Christian Church, 965 W. 24th Street. Interment will follow at Rincon Cemetery, 13100 E. Old Spanish Trail Road.

Arrangements by Avenidas Cremation & Burial.
