She was predeceased by her mother Dora Mae (Swan) Young, her husband Deacon Tommie Tartt, her sister and brother-in-law Dora Mae and Rev. H.H. Hardy, and her daughter Timberly. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Pleasant (Larry), daughter Deborah, son Tommie, grandchildren Melissa, Larra, Jeffrey, Jocelyn, and Jaleesa, great-grandchildren Aurora, Ra, and Giovanni, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She shared a love of politics and gardening with her son-in-law, Larry. She worked at the polls in every election for almost 50 years. She was kind and compassionate, talkative and friendly, stubborn and determined. She first got her driver's license at age 50 and for the last time at age 90. Her cousin Dot quotes NeeNee as saying, "I'm in the slow lane. I put all my blinkers on. Go past me. Don't trail me. I'll get there in my own time."
