Mary Anne Vernick, 74, died on October 27, 2021. Lovingly known as “Momma V.”, “Grammy” or simply, “Momma”, she is deeply loved by her friends and family and will be dearly missed. She lived out her faith in Jesus through emulating his character - loving unconditionally and generously giving to others. She was an avid reader, sparking a love of reading in all of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed swapping and discussing books and reading aloud with expression to her grandchildren. She had a tremendous sense of humor, and could always find a way to make us laugh even through the most difficult of circumstances. A self-described “city gal” at heart, she enjoyed the ballet and symphony, taking the bus instead of driving, and dining out on the town for special occasions. Most of all, she loved being a mom and Grammy, attending tea parties, both real and imagined, refereeing bunny races at Easter, and spoiling her grandsons with ice cream *and* chocolate shakes.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Barry, and son Mark Vernick. She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Vernick and Stacy Muelder, son-in-law Chris Muelder, and grandchildren Sean and Brendan.
No in-person memorial service is planned. To honor Mary’s memory, please donate to a local charity, savor a cup of English Breakfast tea with a friend, cherish a well-worn book, or spread her love through an act of kindness for someone.
