Earlie was born August 9, 1935, to Cleona Ransom Williams and Robert Charles Williams, in Houston Texas. Earlie had 3 brothers, Roy, Robert Charles and Willie Earl Williams. She was affectionately known as “Baby Sister” Upon the unexpected death of her mother at the age of 15, her brothers brought her to San Diego California to live with her Aunt Pearl Ransom Butler and her husband Levy Butler. Earlie attended San Diego High School and graduated in 1953. Earlie had 3 children, Jacquelyn Williams, Paul Williams () and Herschel Johnson. Although she never married, she was a strong single mother making sure her children had everything they needed.

 

She became a member of Trinity Baptist Church and became the church clerk, keeping records and producing the weekly church bulletin. She loved singing and was always a member of the church choir. She was always busy with church clubs and event. She went on to join Bayview Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and managed the culinary department for the church for many years.

 

In 1972 she and her children worked very hard to buy her first home in the Mountain View area of San Diego. It was her pride and joy and she lived there on the corner of Hemlock for 50 years. She was very active in neighborhood activities.

 

Her work career began at Logan Elementary where she worked as a Community Aide working a liaison between the school and the parents. She also served as PTA President for many years as well as a host of other community organizations including President of San Diego American Little League. She led the School Patrol at Logan Elementary School making sure the kids were always included in the activities that other kids in the school district were involved in. She retired from the schools in the late 90’s after 40 years and began to explore her passion for travel.  She visited places like Egypt, The Dead Sea, Jerusalem, Greece, Hawaii and all over the United States.

 

Earlie loved her San Diego Padres and Chargers. She was their number 1 fan.  She even took a job working in food services at both Jack Murphy Stadium and Petco Park. She had the opportunity to attend hundreds of ball games.

 

Earlie loved her grandchildren Tasia James, Christophor Johnson and Kayla Johnson. They were her pride and joy and she was always ready for them with a kind word and a hug. Her two great grandchildren Taje Gaddy and Cash Johnson received that same love. She also had two step-grandchildren Cesar Galindo and Victor Falcon, that she loved dearly.

 

Earlie was very generous with her time and home. At anytime of the day or night, she would open her home to pretty much anyone who needed a place to lay their head and something to eat. They all stayed until she had enough and would put them out. Her daughter Jackie learned that from her.

 

On January 10, 2022, Earlie left the world peacefully in her sleep. She went on to join her son Paul, her mother Cleona and Aunt Pearl.  May She rest in peace. Earlie will be cremated, and her ashes scattered with her son Paul who preceded her in death…

 

She is survived by her children Jackie Williams and Herschel Johnson (Trudy). Grandchildren Tasia James, C.J. Johnson, and Kayla Johnson. Great Grandchildren Taje Gaddy and Cash Johnson. Niece Carol Williams-Davis and a host of family and friends and the many hearts and lives she touched over the years. Earlie will be GREATLY missed…
