Shirley Kay Gablenz passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2022 due to a battle with lung cancer. She was born in Nevada Missouri on January 24, 1958 to Lloyd Pilcher Jr. and Shirley Sumner.
Kay grew up in Missouri with her 3 younger siblings Patty, Tim, and Tom. She met her husband Kent Gablenz in Rawlins Wyoming and they wed November 23, 1983. They had 2 daughters Lucinda and Jennifer. They were also blessed with 5 grandchildren; Erin, Breann, Dustin, Caden, and Kennedy. Through the years they moved a few places but eventually landed in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Kay worked in the retail industry for many years until she retired from Home Depot in 2019.
Kay’s greatest passions were her faith in God, her family, and friends. She loved nothing more than being a grandma.
Kay is survived by her mom Shirley, dad Lloyd, sister Patty, brothers Tim and Tom, daughters Lucinda and Jennifer, and her grandchildren Erin, Dustin, Caden, and Kennedy. Kay also is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kent and granddaughter Breann.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Lamar Missouri in May 21, 2022 at the Lamar First Assembly of God.
There will also be a Memorial Service in Rock Springs Wyoming on June 18th 2022 at the Masonic Temple in Rock Springs Wyoming.
