Louis Lawrence Firpo

August 16, 1938 - July 31, 2022

Louis Lawrence Firpo of Belmont, Ca quietly passed away on July 31, 2022.

Lou was born in San Francisco, Ca in August 1938 to Louis John and Edith Marie (née Raggi) Firpo.  He attended Jefferson High School and then joined the US Army.  After leaving the military he worked as a sheet metal fabricator until he started his own company in 1967.  He and John Obertelli owned and operated J&L Digital Precision Inc until his retirement in 2012.  He continued to consult until 2016.

Lou was an avid hunter, fisherman, accordion player and teller of many off-colored jokes.  He was an active member of the Italian American Social Club of Menlo Park.  He enjoyed his trips to Molinari’s to share salamis with many friends and families.  Lou was passionate about all the Bay Area sports teams and shared this passion with many of the local youth as a coach and mentor.  He was always active with his grandchildren and loved to regale them with his stories and quotes.  He was a man of few words but his loyalty to his friends and family was fierce.

He is survived by his wife Gail (née Bennett), son Lawrence and daughter Lynette (Joseph), grandchildren Austin, Jamie (Michael), Logan, Lauren and Mia, and brother Leonard.  He was preceded in death by his brother Carl and sister Angie.

Roy Heinzle I was lucky to have re-connected several times with Uncle Lou and Aunt Gail at cousin Regina's home several times over the last ten years. I have been a happy recipient of the above-mentioned Molinari salamis fresh from his pick-up truck on each occasion, it was like the passing of the torch. I still remember as a young boy going to his very high- tech shop with my parents in the late 1960's when he showed us the first laser beam we had ever seen. Very much a one-of-a kind, he will be very missed. My loving thoughts go out to the family.
