Mavis Elaine Sturak joined the angels on July 9, 2022. Born in Rochester, Minnesota on July 2, 1927, she was 95 years old. Mavis is survived by her sister, Alpha Howe, daughter, Tamara Sturak, son-in-law, Sean McGrath, granddaughter Stephanie Smith and grandson Keelan Smith. Nicknamed Sunny as a child, Mavis brought love, light, and laughter to everyone she met. A devout Christian, Mavis literally loved everyone in her life. She met her husband Mike at the Mayo Clinic diet kitchen, where she worked. They married in 1949, and having visited California on their honeymoon, decided to spend their lives here. Mavis worked at the Formica factory in Roseville. A lifelong artist, Mavis painted, photographed, decorated cakes, and made most of the clothes for her young daughters. She acquired friends everywhere she went, as she was interested in the lives of everyone. She will be remembered for her generosity and giving freely of her love and smiles.
