Mary A. Marshall

January 20, 1929 - July 11, 2023

Mary Anne Marshall
January 20. 1929 -July 11, 2023

Mary A(Hein) Marshall passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in the early morning hours at Wellington Meadows Assisted Living facility.

Mary was born at home January 20, 1929, the 6th child of 14, to Ben and Clara Hein in Milford, WI.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church of Milford, and graduated from the Lake Mills High School.

In 1953 Mary married Donald Marshall, in Racine, WI.

Beside working for the Electric Company, Mary went on to hostess at Club 26 Supper Club and eventually retired from the Fort Atkinson High School, where she worked as a secretary in the Guidance office.

Never one to wander too far from home, she did enjoy a trip to Mexico with her sister Joyce, and traveled to Florida to visit her sister Ione.  Mary was an avid creator of braided rugs.  If you are one of the lucky owners of one of her rugs, you are in possession of a true work of art!  Everything she did, she did with love and care.  Her decorated Christmas cookies really were too pretty to eat; but eat we did!  She was known for her au gratin potatoes and her Cream Cheese Brownies.  I truly believe she could have made a very comfortable living if she would’ve sold those brownies!

Mary lived a simple life and helped everyone she could in any way she could.  She so enjoyed time spent with especially her sisters.  What a fun, loud time they always had!  She also held a special place in her heart for her niece Barb Fanello.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Don, son Tim, 9 brothers and sisters and special pet, Zoe.

She is survived by her son Jim (Kathy) Marshall, Fort Atkinson and grandson Joshua, sisters Pearl Christensen, Jean (Don) Zimmerman, Faye Dolan, and Donna (Dick ) Powell, Brother in law Jerry Moldenhauer and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Thanks go out to all the kind, loving support from everyone at Rainbow Hospice for helping Mary in the final stage of her life, and all the workers at Wellington Meadows that were there for her everyday care.  You did a fine job making Mary’s life comfortable.

A memorial celebration of Mary’s life will be planned at a later date.

Bud Lincks Mary was my first Sunday School teacher at Milford Methodist Church. I was about 5 years old. Mary was in her late teens. Her sister Joyce (Joey) was my first baby sitter. Her youngest sister, Donna, was my last baby sitter. Donna's husband, Dick, is the younger brother of the late Jack Powell, former pastor of Milford Methodist. All of the Hein girls were beautiful. The Milford community was small and close-knit. A family with 16 members was about 10% of its population. Look at Mary's photo. She was just as lovely to look at in old age with white hair as she was as a dark-haired teenager! Definitely a "Hein Face". Rest in Peace, dear Sunday School Teacher...
