James Valentine “Val “ Jonasson was born to the proud parents of Moritz and Lorraine Jonasson on 2/14/1950 in the small town of Grafton, North Dakota.
In 1954 they moved to Hunters point, an area of San Francisco, Ca.  

Val moved around a lot but always stayed in different neighborhoods of San Francisco.
He moved into the house in Fairfield in 1990 with his parents and stayed with them for the remainder of their years. He appreciated being there for them.
In September of 2022 Val became ill and needed to be cared for, so he moved in with his son Michael,  who took very good care of him. He then moved in with his son Anthony and family until he passed peacefully on 1/7/24. This was a special time for Val as he was able to spend the time with his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all know how Val wasn’t able to express his feelings or emotions, but it meant a lot to him and the look on his face when he told people said it all. ❤️

Val loved working on cars and was a mechanic for most of his career. He even worked along side his sons’ at their auto shop, which he loved.
His real passion wasn’t cars; it was fishing every chance he got. He loved being in the fishing derbies with his friends and loved going out on his boats to the San Francisco Bay or the Suisun Sloughs with his best friend Lee.  

Val also loved BBQing at the bar  where he and his friends used to hang out. They all loved to eat and drink and have a good time.

Val is survived by his sons;
Michael
Anthony, wife Antoinette.
Granddaughter, (that also took very good care of Val) Selina,  husband Luis
Great-granddaughters Chanel, Gracie and Aleena.
Grandson,  Daniel
Grandson, Anthony Jr, wife Danielle, great-grandson JJ

Jackie, husband Mike
Margret
Ann, husband Pete

And many nieces and nephews who loved him.
Val will be joining his mom, dad and brother Paul,  the Angels that watch over our loving family.
