Theodor Helgi Rosantsson

August 16, 1957 - August 27, 2024

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ted at Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa due to complications of a seizure disorder. He received expert and compassionate care by the staff on the Horizon Wing of the hospital as well as the ICU and Emergency Room.

Ted was born on August 16, 1957 in New Jersey. His parents Theodor and Helga Rosantsson were native Icelanders who emigrated after WWII. They moved back to Iceland several times during Ted’s childhood and so Ted embraced both countries, feeling ever drawn to the land of fire and ice. He was fiercely proud of his heritage.

He attended California Polytechnic University, Pomona where he met his wife Jayne at an anti-nuclear club – The Alliance for Survival in 1982. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and over the years became a successful engineer. He was employed at TrusJoist, Standard Structures, MKM & Associates and Vinson Engineering before starting THR-Engineering. He had his own firm from 2008-2022 in Healdsburg when he had to retire due to a disabling seizure condition.

Family, friendship and engineering were the things that Ted valued most in this world. He supported both his sons in their sports, 4H, FFA and science endeavors. He loved to see live music and plays, hike, fish, go whitewater rafting, read, camp and spend an evening with his beer club friends.

He will be remembered as a loyal, loving and caring husband, father and friend. He was a thoughtful and appreciative patient who never complained when he certainly had a right to. During his illness he had to relearn to walk 3 times. He was always motivated to get stronger both physically and mentally and was optimistic until the end.

Ted is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jayne and his sons Petur and Mark, numerous relatives both in America and Iceland.

A celebration of life will be held at Riverfront Park, 7821 Eastside Road, Healdsburg on Sunday, October 20 at 11 a.m.  Donations in Ted's name can be made to the charity of your choice.
