Remembering the Life and Legacy of Our Beloved Brother

OBITUARY:

“You heard me say, I am going away, and I am coming back to you.  If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the father, for the Father is greater than I” John 14:28.

Bryce Hudson was born on December 28, 1942, to Bryce G. Hudson Sr. and Eunice Mytle Molock.  He was born in Connecticut but moved to Philadelphia with his family when he was three. Bryce was preceded in death by his three siblings:  James Edward Wallace Jr., Lynda S. Wallace; Carmelita Wallace spouse James Matthew.  He is the beloved brother to Reuben C. Scott; Paulette Wallace; Tyrone Wallace wife Denise; Tahira Muhammad; Pamela Wallace; Patsy Wallace; Lolita Wallace and God Brother, Charles Adams.  He was the beloved uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. He will never be forgotten by his oldest friend James Whitters.

 Bryce is a Bartram High school graduate, where he sang with Patti La Belle in the choir.  He then went to study voice and education at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music.   Following graduation, he began working for the Philadelphia school district, where he continued to teach for over 30 years. And retired in 2003.

A high point of his teaching career was his selection of awards:  Teacher of the Year 1989, at John Barry Elementary School, by the William Ross Scholarship fund.  He formed many performance groups during his tenure at John Barry Elementary School.  One of those groups was a boys glee club that performed at various venues.  Bryce made a positive impact on many lives.  He performed with many musical/artists groups including:  Camphor Memorial Methodist Church Choir, Singing City, Opera North, Pennsylvania Pro Musical and Philadelphia Oratorio Choir, and Second Baptist Church of Germantown.

He is an active member of the W. Russell Johnson Guild – the local chapter of the National Association of Negro Musicians.  While serving with the organization he founded the WRJMG Male Quartet.  Bryce was a hero to some and a piler in the community to others.  Bryce Hudson has been gifted singer from youth, one of his absolute favorite hobbies was to sing and be part of a chorus.  Anyone who knows Bryce knows that he spent a large quantity of time in the kitchen, preparing signature dishes, not to exclude his most revered Apple Danish Cakes.  He is a great culinary cook, which is why he later took time to pursue a culinary arts education at the Philadelphia Culinary Arts School.  As a seamstress Bryce wore his way into the hearts of many.  As the eldest of ten siblings, he began early making clothes for himself and his family.  As he grew older this gift began to embrace the closets of all who knew and loved him most.  Bryce’s life has been a testimonial to the healing and loving power of God.  He is an 18-year liver transplant survivor and had no complications from his transplant surgery.  

There you are with that infectious smile, so noble so inviting, makes you want to stay a while and enjoy a piece of Apple Cake from he who loves to toil, strive, and bake.  We miss your effervescent hue, and the things you truly loved to do.  You have educated the nation’s finest; your music legacy will remind us of the way harmony is supposed to be.

I love you this day and forever more, as you prepare a place through Heaven’s door know that we truly appreciate the precious gifts you give to thee….           Your Life, Your Love, Your Legacy.

The Message;     

His face and voice brings memories with love and purpose….Building and teaching histories through fingers melodies.  It’s the LEGACY of what holds us together.  The continuation of his destiny.  Good songs, great food coded with loves energies.  That’s how he gave it to me….that’s how he have it to me.  

Delivered on hymns hummed with sunshine.  His eye is on the sparrow.  Belted out with tears like diamonds.  Sparkling, flowing then crescendoed and narrowed.  Serving gems heaped on platters with the marrow..  To…Feed my soul.  Baked to perfection.  His love wrapped in aluminum gold.  He is Eunice’s son.  He taught what he was told.  Said what’s given we have hold.  His eyes is on the sparrow Golden…his melody flowed.  Mama he got the message, aluminum wrapped gold baked to perfection.  He taught us what he was told.  We are the message unfold.
