Martha was the daughter of Mrs. Maria Mena Acosta (1919-2013) formerly of Whittier and Mr. Antonio Enriquez Hernandez (1919-2002) formerly of Mexicali. As a U.S. born citizen, Martha spent her early years in Mexicali. In the summer of 1958, at the age of 12, she moved to Los Angeles, staying with her uncle and aunt, in East LA. while her mother and sisters remained in Mexicali. Martha graduated from Roosevelt High School in June 1964. She married her high school boyfriend after graduation, whereupon she gave birth to her son Victor (1964) and her daughter Cyndi (1969). After marriage, Martha worked as a data entry operator for Union Oil of California, the Automobile Club of Southern California, and Bank of America. It was during this time that Martha separated from and eventually divorced her first husband. In the summer of 1978 Martha, along with her girlfriend from Union Oil Company (and others from that company), enjoyed a week’s long vacation on Lake Powell in Utah. It was during this time that Martha met one of the other Union Oil employees, Ted Doss. Martha and Ted married a year later in June 1979. They moved to their current house in Rosemead in September of 1979, and lived there off and on until Martha’s passing.
Martha was a warm and pleasant person; she and Ted joined Temple City Grace Baptist Church during the summer of 2023. When Martha and Ted lived in Bangkok, Thailand and in Jakarta, Indonesia (where Ted worked for Union Oil Co.), Martha volunteered her time at orphanages, service clubs and other social organizations. In addition to enjoying people, Martha also loved gardening, cooking, and sewing.

She is also survived by four sisters; Lilia Acosta, Elizabeth Salo, Nannette Enriquez, Connie Enriquez; and four brothers Tony Enriquez, Cesar Enriquez, Carlos Enriquez, and Hector Enriquez.
As a mother of two, Martha was actively involved in her children’s academics and activities, serving as a role model, guardian, and nurturing parent. Her commitment to hard work, perseverance and integrity were the foundation for how she conducted her life and how she raised her children and mentored her loving grandchildren. After returning to Rosemead from Texas in 2001, Martha became a Tele-Interpreter translating from English to Spanish and vice versa. She treated every human with respect. She was filled with curiosity and a love for learning and was always eager to help others. Her enthusiasm for life, family and friends will be greatly missed.
