Bridie Mary Acton

April 07, 2025 - June 24, 1933

Bridie Mary Acton passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Scartaglen, Ireland, Bridie emigrated to Canada in the late 1950s, where she met her beloved husband, Peter, at an Irish dance in Toronto. They were both proud of their Irish Catholic roots, which remained central to Bridie’s spirit throughout her life.

Bridie embraced life with a vibrant heart and an indomitable resilience. Her charm, quick wit, and endless hospitality left an impression on everyone she met. She especially loved hosting friends and family for a spot of tea and lively conversation (not to mention potent pina coladas). Those who knew her best would fondly warn newcomers: her kettle defied the laws of physics, and the heat of her tea mirrored the warmth of her heart.

A natural caregiver and community member, Bridie wore many hats throughout her life — from caring for children, to driving a school bus, and a volunteer for The Village of Petaluma. In her later years she was a passionate real estate professional in Marin and Sonoma counties. She took great pride in helping families find their homes, considering it both a calling and a joy. Bridie also gave generously of her time to her church in the capacity of an Eucharistic minster and offering guidance and compassion to those who were homebound and all who crossed her path.

Bridie was predeceased by her husband of 49+ years, Peter Acton. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Carmen Acton, Peter Acton, and Patrick Acton, and her cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Madison. Bridie was always surrounded by love, and her family is especially grateful for the exceptional care and kindness provided by the Caregivers, Med. Techs, and Staff at Windsong of Sonoma and the members of the Continuum Hospice team.

“Honor your grief, for it is sacred; it is a testament to the depth of your heart. And in time, through the pain, you will find healing — not because you have forgotten, but because you have learned how to carry both love and loss together.”

Kathleen Garber It was a joy to know Bridie.. Her charm, compassion, intelligence, and quick humor made her truly one of a kind. Whether she was sharing stories or simply offering a kind word, she always brought a smile to those around her. Her beautiful family is a reflection of the love she gave so freely. We hope you find strength in one another as you remember how proud she was of you all, and the joy and love she shared with everyone she met. Our love goes with her. We miss you—rest in the light of our Lord.

Nicole O What a joy Bridie was and she will be missed by all of us at Windsong Senior Living. What a life she led and I can truly see how she must have been a dynamo throughout her life. I will miss saying to her EVERY morning “Top of the morning to ye Bridie!” And her replying, “and the rest of the day to yourself!” I know you are in a better place but you WILL be missed - by your children, your extended family and all of us who got to know you in your later years. “May the Road rise up to meet you Bridie”. Sláinte!
