We were heartbroken to hear of the loss of Jimmy. Please accept our deepest condolences.
As one of the “babies” of our cousin tribe he was always one of a kind: gentle, kind, and quietly brilliant. His thoughtful nature, warm heart and intelligence touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His time with us was far too short, but his memory will remain a blessing for us.
We wish you strength and comfort and peace during this incredibly difficult time.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Melissa Mendes-Hickey and Joe Hickey

Jimmy, from the moment I first held you, I knew a gentle soul had come into the world. You lived with a tender heart, offering compassion in ways that words could never fully capture. Your gentleness and kindness were a light in my life and the lives of those blessed to know you.
I am so sorry your journey ended so soon. Jimmy, I will carry your love with me always.
Rest in God’s peace.
With love, Mom (Ilda Carvalho Ferrie)

Saw this last night and was gutted. Jim was one of my closest friend from SkyMall and our irreverent no-filter personalities made us fast friends. He made work so much fun and was so hilarious, and he'd have me in tears when he'd go off on a rant about something, whether it was how much he hated the band Rush, a restaurant that didn't give free refills, or how stormtroopers wore those big suits and yet were killed with one shot. He knew how to cut through the BS with anything and once you were close with him he never gave you anything but his unfiltered opinions.
We still went to lunch semi-regularly but those lunches became less frequent as time went on. I thought about messaging him to go to lunch a couple weeks ago and then got busy, and when I checked our texts, I realized it had been over a year and I regret that so much.
RIP buddy.

Jenn, I’m so sad I never got to meet Jim. I get it now that he was a true soul mate and a really good man who loved you and your fur babies. Holding you both in my heart.

Jim, Little James, Jimothy— You were incredibly funny, kind, smart and loved your feline children more fiercely than any Father ever has or will. Thank you for answering my hundreds of computer questions and taking us to hidden gems like that “new start-up, hole-in-the-wall” spot, Serrano’s. We are so grateful to have known you. You are loved and will be deeply missed.

To my darling daughter Jennifer. My heart is so full of love for you and Jim. He is a wonderful son-in-law, and he always will be. His quiet nature and thoughtful insight was very special to me. My love for the two of you will be there always. His presence will be sorely missed, but we know that we will be with him again.

Jimmy was truly a man of quiet strength and unwavering kindness. To Eli, Nate and me, he was more than an uncle and brother in law. He was a gentle presence, a patient listener, and a source of warmth and encouragement. His goodness showed in the small, everyday moments: a kind word, a helping hand, a smile that made you feel seen. We will remember him not only for the life he lived, but for the love he gave quietly but freely.
