Jan William Allen Reed

November 16, 1946 - February 13, 2026

Jan was born November 16th 1946 and took his place with God February 13th 2026. Jan was a well respected mule man and cowboy. He was known from the mountains to the valley. Some of Jans most treasured memories are the times he spent in Beasore with Johnny Jones. My dad said he started packing with him when he was 8 years old. Any camping or pack trip we went on meant breaking out the rake. Jan would rake the camp when we got there and when we left. Teaching us you should always leave a place better than how you found it.

Another memory is of living in the little house on the Urrutia Ranch. Jan worked there for many years.  He was the Lead Man and cattle puncher. He rode horseback to gather cattle, rope, and get the bad ones out of the brush with his pit bulls that could work cattle like you wouldn't believe. I could tell stories for days.

Jans greatest loves were his family and the back country, which he called God's country. Amber said just the other day that if you ever messed up and got in a wreck back there that he's the one you want to have with you because he'd get you out and never leave anyone behind. Jan has missed so many of his friends and family these past years. He would want to thank you from the bottom of his heart.
Jan is survived by his oldest Daughter Mrs Christy and Son in law Jason Sharp, Daughter Amber Reed, Grandson Gabriel Reed, Sister Mrs Jeaneen Goodrich, and Brother Jeff Lewis. Jan was thrilled to find out a few years back that he has two Sons and they are twins! They are Kevin and David Gimbl he also has a Grandson Dominic Gimble and a Grand Daughter Sierra Gimble. There are 12 Neices and Nephews, 23 Great Nieces and Nephews and 17 Great,Great Nieces and Nephews. Jan is preceded in death by his Brothers Terry and Jerry Reed and his sister Tamara Gross.
